Spanish low-cost carrier Volotea launched nonstop service between Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) and Florence on September 22, 2026 — the first direct air link between BER and the Tuscan capital in the airport’s history.

Twice Weekly, Under Two Hours
The new route operates up to twice per week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Volotea is deploying an Airbus A319 with 156 seats on the route, and flight time from BER to Florence comes in at just under two hours.
The move is part of a broader expansion for Volotea, which is significantly growing its presence in Florence in 2026. The Barcelona-based airline is basing a second aircraft at Florence Airport and has simultaneously launched routes to Berlin, Strasbourg, Seville, Valencia, and several other European cities. Berlin is among its most important markets.
Timing Built Around Tuscany’s Best Seasons
Volotea has aligned its Florence schedule with the region’s most comfortable travel windows. Florence enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with spring and autumn offering the mildest temperatures — and the airline’s flight plan covers exactly those periods: autumn 2026 (September and October), the Christmas season through early January, and again from late March 2027 when the summer schedule begins.
For Berlin travelers, that means a direct option whether they’re chasing Tuscan vineyards in the fall or trying to see the Uffizi before the peak-season crowds arrive in spring.
Why Florence Justifies a Direct Route
Florence is widely regarded as the cradle of the Renaissance, but its appeal goes well beyond historical labels.
