Since the beginning of 2026, the Stiftungsgruppe Bürgermeister Reuter has been operating the restaurant ZUM GRÜNAU and the adjacent Hotel Waldzeit in Berlin-Grünau. The takeover is part of a broader strategy: the establishment is intended not only to function as a dining venue but also to reclaim its position as a local meeting point for Grünau and the southeastern districts of Berlin.

ZUM GRÜNAU
The initial response to the new concept has been positive. The Limoncello White Night, held in summer 2026, attracted approximately 80 guests in white attire and was fully booked. Following this success, the next event, the Grünauer Wiesn, is scheduled for September 26, 2026, with a Wiesn-Brunch to follow on October 4, 2026.
Anja Landvoigt, Chairwoman of the Board of the Bürgermeister Reuter Stiftung and Managing Director of Immobilienservice Bürgermeister Reuter, emphasized the responsibility that comes with operating a venue of this scale. In her view, restaurants have a social function beyond serving food and beverages. They contribute to community life by providing spaces where people can meet, converse, and spend time together. Landvoigt, who has personal ties to the region, stated that the development of ZUM GRÜNAU is also viewed from the perspective of local residents.
Restaurant as a Social Venue
Historically, restaurants and excursion establishments in Berlin have served as locations for social interaction. Neighbors and friends met there, families spent Sundays, clubs gathered, and celebrations took place. ZUM GRÜNAU aims to revive this tradition, albeit with contemporary formats. The events are designed to offer various reasons for visitors to discover or rediscover the restaurant. Depending on the occasion, the focus may be on communal dining, live music, or a thematic concept that provides a brief sense of escape from the everyday.
The high demand for the Limoncello White Night indicated to the team that this concept resonates with the public. Guests came specifically for the event, and the fully booked evening served as an early indication of the location’s potential as an event venue.
From Limoncello to Grünauer Wiesn
On Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the restaurant will host the first Grünauer Wiesn. The live band “Partyholixxx” will perform popular cover songs. The event will feature freshly tapped beer, pretzels, and Bavarian specialties. Additional attractions include log-sawing and a styling corner for traditional Wiesn hairstyles. Traditional attire is welcome but not required. Admission is priced at €39.50 and includes a €20 food and beverage voucher.
A daytime variant will follow one week later. On Sunday, October 4, 2026, ZUM GRÜNAU will offer a Wiesn-Brunch from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The buffet combines breakfast classics with Bavarian specialties and hot dishes. Filter coffee, cocoa, water, and juice are included in the price of €39.50 per person. Children up to five years of age eat free of charge; children aged six to eleven receive a 50 percent discount.
Local Escape, Berlin-Style
The themes change, but the underlying concept remains consistent. Visitors attending the Limoncello White Night did not need to travel to Italy for an Italian-inspired summer evening. Similarly, those wishing to experience a Wiesn atmosphere in September do not need to leave Berlin. The location itself plays a central role: ZUM GRÜNAU combines the traditional Berlin excursion to the waterfront with an event program that provides an additional incentive to travel to Grünau.
For the Stiftungsgruppe Bürgermeister Reuter, this is part of a long-term development strategy for the site. The group already operates several offerings in Treptow-Köpenick and sees itself not only as a tourism-oriented actor but also as a partner for networking with the district and the region.
Anja Landvoigt summarized the approach: “At the end of the day, social life does not emerge in the abstract – it emerges where people have a reason to come together. We need exactly such places in Berlin.”
