Actually we wanted to go to the “Restaurant Bass“, but there everything was booked out. So we walked down the Xantener Strasse to the Brandenburgische. At this corner is the Xantener Eck for over 100 years. Friends once talked about it quite positively. From the outside it looks like a bad tourist trap. Inside it looks old and cosy. Old style German.
You can also go there with your parents-in-law 😉
The menu is typically German with Austrian accents, but they do have also a good steak selelction.
Especially remarkable is the friendliness of the boss and her employees. They are really nice!
We all had the duck with red cabbage and, as the portion are big, we shared a Kaiserschmarren.
The duck was excellently baked to the point, the dumplings excellent, the red cabbage tasty. There was a sauce to go with it. No haute cuisine, but properly prepared. We would like to order this again and again – for 16,90 € the big portion!
The Kaiserschmarren was a bit rustic and not very fluffy. This will not be my favorite dish. But I am spoiled by the Tiroler Alm!
Anyway we left happily the restaurant Xantener Eck and will surely return!
All dishes at present also for take away or delivery nearby!
