On August 26, everything in WILMA revolves around the topic of food. Starting at 12:00, Berlin’s top chef Markus Herbicht and his team will provide delicious inspiration for the time after the summer vacations. Throughout the day and into the early evening, the market hall in the basement of WILMA will be a hotspot for culinary enthusiasts. Free treats, sparkling wine, workshops for kids, music and show acts will make for a perfect vacation finale for young and old.
“We wanted to create an opportunity to look forward to the end of the summer vacations, and love and joy go through the stomach,” jokes Tobias Bluhm, center manager at WILMA with Gourmet Report. “With the support of Markus Herbicht and our other partners, we want to show that our market hall is just the right place to enjoy together with the family!”
It all starts at 12:00 p.m. with workshops and taster sessions
for back-to-school. Kids will craft and design their own pencil cases, while Markus Herbicht will prepare, explain, and sample great alternatives to boring school sandwiches. Included: homemade Nutella, Falafelboulette with yogurt, bread skewers and other treats.
Until about 7:00 p.m. there will be appetizers from the tenants of the market hall, a champagne bar, a photo box, show acts such as the “Mirror Dancers” and the Loopstation artist, musician and DJ PlaGu. Herbicht and his team provide the curious with Kreuzberger DimSum from Brandenburger Landente, pickled vegan Brandenburger Rübchen, Havelzander in vermouth butter and much more.
In the afternoon, a colorful, moderated pre-evening program will then set the mood for the last vacation weekend. Tenants of the market hall will present their highlights, concepts and philosophies, Markus Herbicht will talk about the secrets of high-end gastronomy,
Radio veteran Sven Oswald moderates and the “Mirror Dancers” make eyes shine.
