MichelinGuide for Berlin 2021

Berlin is still by far the leading gourmet metropolis in Germany with 25 Michelin star restaurants.
This year Berlin could even gain one star.

Unfortunately, the wonderful Savu on Kurfürstendamm has closed, but the newly opened Faelt by Björn Swanson after only one month of operation and Irma La Douce (chef Michael Schulz) – both in Schöneberg – each received their first Michelin star

In 2021, Berlin will have a three-star restaurant, Rutz in Mitte.
This will be followed by five two-star restaurants. The Coda is a dessert restaurant. The “Tim Raue” is the best restaurant in Germany (in many lists). Furthermore, there is the FACIL at Potsdamer Platz, the Horvath at Paul-Lincke-Ufer 44a and the Lorenz Adlon in the five-star Hotel Adlon at the Brandenburg Gate.

Above 19 restaurants will each hold a Michelin star in 2021.

In addition to the well-known stars, MICHELIN Germany also awards the so-called “Bib Gourmands.” These are awarded to restaurants that offer thoughtfully prepared dishes at a particularly good price-performance ratio.
Unfortunately, there are no new Bib Gourmands in Berlin this year, but three restaurants have lost their Bib Gourmand: Colette by Tim Raue, Lokal and Rutz Weinbar. Presumably, these restaurants have become too expensive for a Bib Gourmand.
The following 9 establishments have a Bib Gourmand as in the previous year.

There is criticism of Michelin, how it managed with its 12 inspectors to visit all restaurants, although they were open for a maximum of eight months. Some restaurants also did not open at all, but continue to be awarded. According to the editor-in-chief Ralf Flinkenflügel, a starred restaurant must be visited at least twice. How the Michelin inspectors want to have managed two visits to, for example, the new Faelt, when it was only open for one month, no one understands, except the Michelin itself.
