Gelato Week Germany – Fan

After four years of growing success, the Berlin Ice Cream Week is now evolving into a nationwide event, Gelato Week Germany. From the 18th to the 24th of April 2024, about 200 of Germany’s most renowned ice-cream parlours will present a unique and distinctive flavour – different for each participating location – at the special price of only € 1.50.

In 2023, the Berlin Ice Cream Week recorded an outstanding turnover with more than 30 thousand portions of the ‘special’ ice cream flavours sold in the 43 participating ice cream parlours, despite of a week marked by rain (in 2022, with cloudy skies, 35 thousand portions were sold). This year, the aim is even more ambitious: we want to showcase artisanal ice cream parlours across Germany.

Ice-cream parlours from Bayern to Nordrhein-Westfalen, from Rheinland-Pfalz to Baden-Württemberg and, of course, also in Berlin are already confirming their participation, but the event may extend to other areas too.

The event is organised by Berlin Italian Communication, through the brand True Italian, with the support of the confectionery manufacturer Babbi.

Anyone visiting at least three of the participating ice cream parlours will get the chance to win a trip to the Adriatic Riviera, including flights and a stay in a wonderful hotel in Cesenatico. As usual, there will also be a photo contest on Instagram rewarding the most original and creative pictures and videos.

From Berlin Ice Cream Week to Gelato Week Germany

The need to drop the word ‘Berlin’, as the event will be held simultaneously throughout the country, was not the only reason. The change of name was the result of a lively debate among ice-cream masters about the differences between ice cream and gelato: “gelato” stands for an artisanal and qualitative product.

Gelato Week Germany 2024: visual concept

A glimpse back to the Adriatic Riviera in the 70s, when Rimini, Riccione and Cesenatico were the ‘place to be’ for those in Europe who wanted to enjoy sun and ice cream: on these premises lies the visual communication on which Gelato Week 2024 was founded.

Created by Italian designer, Gioia Fiaccadori, the visual is a tribute to the summers that so many of us and our parents used to spend on the Riviera, as well as a hint to the trip to Cesenatico that a couple of ice-cream enthusiasts could win.

Gelato Week Germany 2024: timeline

Gelato Week Germany will have a booth at the Babbi stand during the Gelatissimo trade fair in Stuttgart (3rd – 7th of February). Everybody attending is invited to come by.

A press conference including, of course, the gelato tasting is planned for the 16th of April in Berlin.

The highlight is scheduled from the 18th to the 24th of April, when the Gelato Week Germany will finally take place in about 200 of the best ice cream parlours throughout the country!

The list of participating ice cream parlours and much further information will follow in the coming weeks.
