FREDERICK’s invites to a special dinner on November 9, 2024 together with Arne Anker and Philipp Vogel.
This year, Berlin and Germany are celebrating the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. A date that is the occasion for countless events, especially in the German capital. This is also the case at FREDERICK’s. Since its opening in early 2022, the restaurant complex has stood for creative drinks, international favorites and entertainment in a unique, glamorous location – right in the center at Potsdamer Platz’ Sony Center. A place that stands for the combination of history and future like no other in Berlin. After all, the square was the most important transportation hub in Europe at the end of the 19th century and was a hive of activity at the beginning of the 20th century. But with the construction of the Berlin Wall and the resulting division of the city, the widest death strip in Berlin was created on the same spot – until the fall of the Wall in November 1989, when Potsdamer Platz was suddenly once again the center of the united city. Since then, the site has continued to evolve and with it the offer for Berliners and visitors from all over the world.
On November 9, 2024 at 6 pm, FREDERICK’s is now inviting you to a special dinner together with the two top Berlin chefs Arne Anker from the Charlottenburg restaurant BRIKZ and Philipp Vogel from the Kreuzberg Orania to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Together they want to celebrate the spirit of reunification and peaceful coexistence in turbulent times at this highly symbolic location in the former no man’s land between East and West. A theme that could not be more topical.
Under the motto “It tastes better together”, the FREDERICK’s team under the direction of Chef de Cuisine Stefan Briese, together with Arne Anker and Philipp Vogel, is therefore creating an extraordinary 5-course menu in which culinary classics from East and West are interpreted in a modern way. The three partners want to make their very own contribution to the theme of “peaceful coexistence” and set an example for democracy in our country. True to the motto “Remembering revolution | shaping democracy”.
10% of the evening’s proceeds will therefore be donated to the “Berlin Wall Foundation”, which preserves the architectural remains and traces of the division at historical sites in Berlin, conveys its history in the context of the Cold War and enables the victims to be remembered.
At the beginning of the evening, Briese’s team will serve four amuse bouches, including tartare of smoked brown trout with potato brioche and wild broccoli, Nordisches Mett hedgehog and two kinds of sturgeon. Afterwards, Anker and Vogel invite you on a flavorful journey reminiscent of the division and reunification of Germany.
Guests can look forward to Kiel sprat with pumpkin and buckwheat (Arnke Anker), Fabergé egg of the East – baked egg from a happy chicken, potatoes in all their variety and mustard from East and West (Philipp Vogel), beef roulade with napkin dumplings and Brussels sprouts (Arne Anker) and woodruff jelly with Cuban vanilla and citrus (Philipp Vogel). To accompany the menu, the FREDERICK’s team will serve a corresponding wine for each course. For the first two courses, this will be a Chardonnay from the 2023 vintage from the Zöller winery in Rheinhessen. To accompany the roulade, the team pours a 2020 Klausenberg Dunkelfelder dry quality wine from the Schuh winery near Meißen. And for dessert, guests can look forward to a Zornheimer Riesling Vinum Montanum from the 2021 vintage from the Münzenberger winery in Rheinhessen.
The menu costs 98 euros per person including drinks. Reservations can be made at FREDERICK’s via the website https://www.fredericksberlin.com, by telephone on +49 3031196736 or by email to hello@fredericksberlin.com.
