The best restaurants and chefs from all over Germany – almost 1000 pages of competent restaurant reviews.
Within just a few years, Gusto has made a very good name for itself in the restaurant and gourmet scene, and has advanced to become a highly regarded gourmet guide. In the process, the youngest of the restaurant guides has quickly left behind some of the so-called established giants of the genre, as the guide brought a lot of fresh air into the field of fine dining criticism, which has been quite statically dominated by a handful of publications for decades, especially through its detailed, differentiated assessment and transparency in evaluation.
“The curve of the overall level in the kitchens of ambitious restaurants, which has already risen continuously in this country over the past ten years, as well as the constant new growth of such addresses, has not made a dent even during the 2020/2021 pandemic. And so we can finally announce highly deserved special awards again in this issue, first and foremost the one for the Chef of the Year: Congratulations to Detlef Schlegel from Restaurant Stadtpfeiffer in Leipzig and, of course, to all the other award winners,” says editorial director Markus Oberhäußer.
Awards are presented in the six top categories “Chef of the Year”, “Rising Star of the Year”, “Newcomer of the Year”, “Sommelière of the Year”, “Host of the Year” and “New Opening of the Year”. In addition, there are TOP 10 awards in the following categories: “Most Individual Handwriting,” “Modern and Traditional Classics,” “State of the Art: Precision, Perfection and Design,” “The Most Exciting Newcomers,” “Soul Food,” “Non-alcoholic Beverage Accompaniment,” “Gourmet Lunch,” “Sustainability,” “Price-Performance Ratio,” “Fine Dining with a View,” “Top Vegetarian Cuisine” and “The Special Place.”
