In Berlin: the sixth edition of the festival dedicated to authentic Italian pasta

In 45 exceptional Italian restaurants in the German capital there is a special offer for one week
Fettuccine with butter and lime, stracciatella, shrimp tartare and confit tomatoes; fresh orecchiette with meatballs in tomato sauce, parmesan fondue, black olive powder, and fresh basil; casarecce with cauliflower cooked in red wine with sultanas, almonds and toasted breadcrumbs (vegan); bigoli with duck ragout; fusilloni with mussels and cacio e pepe foam (pecorino and pepper); gnocchi with gorgonzola, walnuts and truffle sauce… these are just some of the mouthwatering recipes offered by 45 of Berlin’s finest Italian restaurants during the True Italian Pasta Week 2024. An event held for the first time in 2018 to celebrate this symbol of the Italian cuisine, this year it will take place from November 18th to 24th in the German capital.
For one week you can enjoy a really special menu in one of the 45 selected restaurants: you can choose one dish between two exceptional pasta recipes (each restaurant has its own) along with an Aperol Spritz or a glass of wine and a digestive (Limoncello DICAPRI crema) for €18 only. For restaurants, it is not easy to work with such competitive prices in a time of significant price increases in the gastronomy sector, but the True Italian members want to continue relying on a special price in order to bring as many people as possible closer to authentic Italian cuisine.
The event aims to inspire the city’s food lovers to embark on a culinary journey, discovering Italian recipes they may not have tried before or visiting hidden gems (10 of the participating restaurants opened in the last year). The 2023 edition saw over 5,500 menus sold.
What kind of pasta can you expect during the event?
The event celebrates pasta in all its shapes: orecchiette, tagliatelle, caserecce, rigatoni, but also gnocchi, ravioli, lasagne… each paired with diverse and special sauces and fillings. A regional touch won’t miss! Many recipes will honor the Belpaese rich culinary traditions: Apulian orecchiette with turnip tops, Roman tonnarelli all’amatriciana, dumplings from Trentino, Sicilian pasta alla Norma, gnocchi alla Sorrentina from Campania, Sardinian gnocchetti alla Campidanese and much more.

The True Italian project
Founded in 2015 by Berlin Italian Communication, the True Italian network aims to preserve authentic Italian gastronomy in Berlin through the brand (registered with the German Patent and Trademark Office and the EUIPO) and various initiatives and events throughout the year. “True Italian” refers to ambassadors of Italian cuisine who are dedicated to promoting good nutrition, starting ingredient selection. When we talk about “True Italian”, we focus on the cooking approach rather than the nationality of the chef or owner.
